I think Mom believes that I won't, actually, apply for any jobs this summer. To shut everybody up (and to get money back on my tax returns, because that just sounds fun) today my plan is to eat breakfast, take a shower, and get to every business within walking distance today before lunch rush, and then after lunch write my essay on Marx and Hegel. You know, the one I've been talking about doing for the last two months and haven't yet.
And then I'll bring them home to fill out so I can ask my reference people if I can use them. (This is one thing I love about same-sex marriage not being legalized: I get to use my uncle as a reference and he's obligated to say good things about me! "Hey, L, can I say a big 'fuck you' to the system and use you as a reference?" He's never said 'no' yet.)
Maybe if I do get hired (and really, how can't I? There's like a dozen businesses within a ten minute walk of here--someone has to be willing to hire me.) working will keep me creative during the summer. The only time I write is when I'm supposed to be doing something else or stressing about something else.
I really want a job this summer so I can have money and buy things and not worry during the school year.
Soup's on.
