Originally uploaded by Ghostly Penguin Display. Scooter (aka Scoot, Scootie, Booter, Boot) was the first pet that Karla and I shared and the first pet of my adult life. He lived with me for 7 years in 3 different places: the garage in Palo Alto, the Victorian attic in Mountain View and finally our house in Redwood City. Although his exact birth date is not known he was thought to be approximately 11-13 years old. He joined the great dust-bath in the sky on September 20th, 2010 due to complications from cancer.
He loved chewing, wheeling, dusting, raisins, snuggling with Pean, fighting with Pean, and inventing his own games such as "drawer" and "blanket". He had no trouble outsmarting humans and could usually escape from anything that was not metal. He did not like to be picked up or held but if you sat still he would climb on you and chew your clothes. He also enjoyed ragtime music, Kurtis Blow and figure skating. He hated cheese and electric toothbrushes. Longtime readers may remember many of Scooter's adventures from his younger days.
Scooter is survived by his best friend and companion Peanut, 3 cats, 2 chickens and 2 human parents, all of whom will miss him terribly.
