Will the heron wonders never cease? Nope. Believe it or not, we were lucky enough to see an entire rookery of BOAT BILLED HERONS! We saw this on a boat ride in the mangroves of San Blas, just north of town. Our guide for this trip was Carlos. I was always one to mock tours but I have to admit that we have seen lots of birds that we never would have seen. They say that birdwatching is a cheap hobby. That's only if you are satisfied with seeing just the birds that live in your hometown. So far our checklist of Puerto Vallarta birds is up to 61 different species. In just the heron family we have seen: Green Heron, Yellow Crowned Night Heron, Black Crowned Night Heron, Tri-colored Heron, Little Blue Heron, Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, Snowy Egret, Cattle Egret and Boat Billed Heron.

The San Blas jungle also contained many baby crocodiles and some turtles and fish and coatimundis. In the town of San Blas I got the biggest jackfruit shake ever made. I think it was bigger than my entire stomach. Carlos told us a story about how everyone wants to grow jackfruit here because of Nafta. Not only that, but they grow a lot of soursop.

Last night we decided to eat Mexican street food for dinner. We got Mexican pizza, Mexican corn on the cob and Mexican grossella jugos. I am still recovering.
