Two questions:
1.
hano and I would like to go on holiday for a week or so in early January, and want to go somewhere warm (not necessarily tremendously hot, but some sun and pleasant weather to contrast with winter in London).
We have thought of:
Malta
Gran Canaria
Morocco
- any comments on these, or suggestions of other places?
2.
I had a little netbook and I loved it (Samsung NC10, or something like that). But the screen has died spectacularly and the battery life had started to go, so it needs replacing. I'm temporarily using
hano's old Samsung laptop, but the keyboard is erratic, to say the least.
I think I do want a laptop this time for the bigger screen, and I do want to run Windows, much though I admire the Macs that
widgetfox and
hano have, because I have a large database built in Access, and work will both install and support that for me on a Windows machine. Lightweight is good, for lugging back and forth to archives and conferences, but given that I've cracked two screens in the last six months, durable is probably more important. Any ideas? (Oh, maximum spend of £1000, I should think.)
