I don’t really know much about politics or government, so it may be a bit out of line writing this… It’s ridiculous how much they hide from us. Take for example the assassination of JFK. Look at the illusion the government created with the Gulf of Tonkin Incident. Or the “weapons of mass destruction.” The deceiving done by the government sadly works though. The majority of society doesn’t question things. I believe our government was involved with the incidents on September 11th, yet just the mention of such a thing gets people so angered. “Our government would never do that. Why would our government take innocent lives?” Why? Because it’s all a ploy. Our society had a very deep fear instilled within. People sleep with loaded guns under their pillows. The top stories on the evening news usually start with the line “A shooting in….” “There was a murder tonight in…” “Terrorist groups are said to be training…” “Terrorism…” “Terrorism…” Fear. Our society is afraid, and our government is partially to blame. I could go into this so much, but why? People don’t care to listen. We are Americans! We live in the best country. Really? The amount of people killed in the US by guns each year is about 11 thousand. In Canada that number is approximately 100. People in Canada have just as many guns in their homes as Americans do. So why don’t Canadians run around killing each other? Their media and government don’t try to scare the public. Americans live in fear everyday. Afraid that someone may break in, that someone may rob them, kill them. Sure, bad things happen, and now we just might have a reason to be scared. The fear has become too deep to reverse. If things would have been different from the beginning maybe America wouldn’t have this problem. We need a change in the way the government is run. Not only do we need a new president, we need to rid of the corruption in all branches of the government. Change is what America needs, but will the public accept that? At least some people realize that America has gone to hell, but there are still many people that think change is impossible, so they don’t try to push change. And even if they do, it’s never for the better. For example I was speaking to my mother about the government and the “Right to bear arms.” I was told that since I’m so young I’m just looking for a fight, an argument. Most of society’s older population has seen so much tragedy within this country, yet they don’t want change? I don’t really understand. People who have seen so much don’t push for change. Some people even think this country is good. How is that possible? Maybe we don’t have any potential, maybe we have become so jaded by such a corrupt government that there is no turning back. But it’s worth a try, right?
