Hello everyone,

I would have written this update sooner but I kinda um… ended up in the hospital a little sooner then my expected operation next month. As some of you may know I’m all set to go into the hospital on January the 9th (four years ago to the day I discovered I was trans) for my last operation to 86 the internal plumbing before it has a chance to go bad, but at 2am on the 23rd of December I woke up, under the impression that there was no water left in the world, and that I was freezing to death in my bed. I’d been ill off and on with a bug for a couple days, but I realized at this point this was serious, and a voice in my head kept saying ‘If you don’t go to the hospital now you’ll die here.’ So I got up, started packing a bag, debating the whole time if I should call an ambulance or my dad to get me to a hospital… I called my dad at around 2:30am.

Pop was up working in his home office, answered on the first ring and after driving over from the south shore, pulled me into the car less then twenty minutes later, brining me to a hospital emergency room. I was the only person there (St. Luc hospital isn’t one of the main emergency hospitals in Montreal, it catches the overflow from the other places) and was quickly checked in, hooked up to an IV unit to be re-hydrated, and learned the freezing my @$$ off feeling came from the fever I had of over 106. There weren’t many people but there was a bad tripping woman drugged off her rocker, and sadly a woman who was having a miscarriage. I in turn spent the day hooked up to liquids, and didn’t eat because I made me feel more ill. By Sunday night I’d only seen one doctor that morning and found out later I’d been over looked all day. I was released at around 10pm but still feeling ill my folks came and took me to their condo, work got called to let them know I wasn’t going in that night at midnight. I spent the next few days just as sick and ended up having to cancel work for another night till I just gave in and told them to find someone else for the rest of the week… my health came first.

I have Monday the 31st off (Asked for two months ago) but have to go in that night for 11:30pm for my shift, and then after four days of work I finish Friday morning and will be off work till about the second week of March. I’ll be going into the hospital on the 8th of January for the operation sometime on the 9th, and then spend three days there after it. I will spend the next week convalescing at my parent’s place but insist on going back to my own aplace the following week. Don’t worry I will be fine, no plans to do something stupid till I’m all healed up, and I have oodles of time off because the doctors don’t want me doing anything for a bit.

Owen

Ps: My mom is riding ferret wrangler on the kids; she has a new pair of rubber boots to keep them from eating her feet.
