Feb 22, 2009 19:26

It's been a busy, exciting day for us here at cot_reviews. On any number of levels, really! But one of the most exciting is this: inspired by our Special Edition of Drabble Reviews, one of our own decided to branch out a little - and reviewed all of the Drabbles in the Classic Who categories at the CoT Awards ( Read more... )

Now, we're not opposed to reviewing the fics in the other areas.

Relieved to hear it, becaise you've certainly been giving that impression.

we do intend to expand to Classic Who, Torchwood, and SJA in Round Three as we add reviewers to our staff.

Okay, that's reasonable, and thanks for explaining.

I hope you'll all excuse us for the following reviews from Classic Who.

And now forget everything I just said, because obviously you didn't mean it.

If I may be so bold as to clarify the statement made here, I think this was said because (a) we don't have many readers who are primarily Classic Who fans because (b) we don't have any reviewers (other than wendymr) who are well-versed enough to review those fics. So the statement was aimed at our primarily New Who readers, and obviously not meant as an offense.

As we've been saying in posts all over the place, if you want more Classic Who reviews, apply to be a reviewer.

You're right, I don't think an offense was meant, and I apologize for being overly snarky, but do you see my point? There is a serious mixed message going on when the mods here say they want to start reviewing Classic Who nominations, but then feel the need to apologize for including a post of Classic Who reviews. I don't blame you guys for not having the bandwidth (or knowledge) to review other categories, and I give props to wendymr for deciding to at least review the Classic Who drabbles. But did you really think your primarily New Who readers would be annoyed at having one Classic Who review post? I know a lot of people who are fans of both New Who and Classic -- myself among them. And if your readers are annoyed by it, then that doesn't exactly entice me to apply to be a reviewer.

But no, I don't think an offense was meant on purpose. Which in some ways makes it even sadder . . . but thank you for responding, and thanks to wendymr for reviewing.

Thank you, and I'm glad that you're pleased to see my reviews. To be honest, I was personally a bit nervous about these reviews, not because of how any New Who fan might react, but because, although I did watch Classic Who for years and I dip into Classic fic occasionally, I can't in any way call myself an expert ( ... )

You're welcome! It is short - but then the fic is a drabble ;) I really enjoyed seeing Eight in a quiet interlude.

Yep! I was actually surprised that one got nominated, out of all the drabbles I've done... but won't complain! It's always nice to imagine him in a quiet interlude; he does them so well. :)
