almost two weeks later...
Week One: done. Week Two: almost done. Time flies when you're havin' fun...
This week: *Dvorak Mass in D (lovely), Symphony of Psalms (oh so good), Rutter Gloria (blecch)
*Frank (artistic director of BCF, a.k.a. my boss) is conducting. Really funny and
so talented and great.
*Two Ann Howard Jones sightings! Oh memories of high school New England chorus...
*Boston trip with Thea (mezzo summer-colleague, Dvorak collaborator extraordinaire)
was on Tuesday. Such fun! Hung out with some NEC kids (who really aren't all that
different from us lay Ithaca College folk), and met up with Klenda and Melissa.
*One of the older female choristers tells me repeatedly that I remind her of Mariah
Carey. I've avoided asking her why that is.
In general:
*I get to drive a golf-cart around the campus -- except it's broken.
*There is more free alcohol here than I could ever know what to do with -- basically
there are four scheduled parties/picnics/"social hours" every week, in addition to
whatever the faculty give us out of their fridge. It's funny that the most
frequent drinkers are also the best singers...go figure.
*I have a contingency of married, middle-aged admirers. Hey, it wouldn't be a proper
summer job if I wasn't getting stalked just a little bit.
*I want Craig Jessop to be my father-in-law or something. So fantastic.
*church outreach choir -- Trinity Episcopal in Limerock was on Sunday, this week
we're taking Trinity of Canaan by storm! (and I have to call it "North Canaan" for
all of the non-locals, because they of course assume that Falls Village is really
called by its proper name, Canaan)
And by the way, I'm on Friendster now. As if I needed yet another online distraction.
