I didn't want to say anything until it was officially announced today, but Chuck has been renewed! You guys have no idea how happy this makes me! We did it!
Unfortunately, there are a few conditions to season three that I'm not so thrilled about - like that we'll have to wait until next March (!!) to see it. The problem with this is that ten months is a long time and it's going to be hard to keep people interested and motivated to watch until then. There was a big gap between the first and second seasons because of the strike, and the show had trouble gaining momentum when it returned as a result. So I'm just worried that the the same thing will happen again if something isn't done. The upside, though, is that should Chuck do well, its order can be boosted from thirteen episodes and extend into the summer. So here's hoping for that.
-I'm kind of meh about Dollhouse's renewal. I watch the show, but it's confusing and I don't think I care enough to keep watching. I also probably won't be watching Scrubs if they bring it back with new people. It's not the same. The show has had a good run; it's time to let it go.
-Ugly Betty is moving to Fridays? Kiss of Death. I guess this is going to be its last season then. It's sad, really. Maybe the show isn't as brilliant as it was during the first season, but I still find it consistently fun and watchable.
-I hate that Leno is ruining five hours of TV a week. The guy has never been funny! Why can't he just retire and go play with his cars? Why did he have to eat up a chunk of air time that could go to, well, anything but him? That has got to be the lamest way of a network saving money.
-There will be no Gossip Girl spin-off. I know I said I probably wouldn't watch it anyway, but I don't know if I'm relieved or disappointed by that news. The CW must be doing really badly. Which brings me to last night's finale...
Gossip Girl
You know, call me crazy, but I'm not really sure why Serena was upset about Gossip Girl calling her irrelevant. Is it because she's afraid that she won't be the center of attention anymore?
I get that having everyone gathered together would be a good way of delivering GG's news, but I can't imagine that cell phones would be allowed on during a grad ceremony. Having GG follow them to college is pretty predictable too.
I'm kind of glad to see Nate and Vanessa together again. I think they have more potential than, say, Blair and Nate. Nate seems a little more animated when he's with her, and if spending a summer in Europe with her helps him grow a personality, then I'm all for it.
I was starting to get frustrated with how many times Blair has thrown herself at Chuck and got shot down, so it was great to see him finally admit that he does love her. That was so cute! I hope next season we get to see them as a couple for at least a little while and they don't come back with them broken up already. Sure, Blair and Chuck might not be a "dinner and a movie" sort of couple (and I don't necessarily want them to be) but it could be fun to see them go on a real date. You know, one that doesn't involve lying and scheming and spying on people. They'd both be so out of their element, it would be so awkward and fun to watch them flounder.
Not really what I expected out of a finale, but not bad. I can't wait to see what happens when Blair and Georgina are roomies! Bring it, season three!
