This is a tutorial for this icon requested by
azuremonkey I use CS5. There is Selective Coloring and Vibrance Layers involved that may not be transferable.
1. First you start with this
Picture from
rawr-caps -It was cropped to look like this
-Duplicate this layer twice
-Set the first duplicated layer to soft light 100%
-Set the second duplicated layer to screen 100%
-Get this -->
2. Selective Coloring Layer
-Red: Cyan -92/Magenta 0/Yellow +73/Black +18
-I erased a bit of this layer as you can see here -->
-We are here now
3. Vibrance Layer
-Vibrance +53/Saturation +8
-Had to erase some of the layer as well -->
-Leads us here -->
4. Levels Layer
- RGB: 22/1.22/236 - Set to 31% Opacity
- Adds a little light to the icon -->
5. Texture Layer
-This I am sure is a black & white light texture BUT before I knew to name them so I have no idea who it is by but I know it is set to soft light 100%. I am really sorry. The majority of b&w light textures I use are by
joy_coloring and
fated_muse -
-Here is the result -->
6. Repeat the texture above I think just erased differently
-Here is the texure used in an erased state.
-What it does here is lighten the bottom half of the icon
-
7. Another black & white texture I can't identify
-In its erased state -->
-It lightens his face and the background a bit
-
8. Levels Layer
- RGB: 19/1.12/255
-
9. Brightness/Contrast Layer
-Brightness 0/Contrast +21
10. Stamp Visible Layer - Ctrl+alt+shift+E
11. Sharpen
12. Black&White Layer set to Soft Light at 41% Opacity
-Kind of tightens everything up
-
