important update

I am really, really shallow. Now, with that in mind, let's talk about Chuck.

You know how Chris Pine is called Chris Fiiiiiiine by almost everybody who's seen Star Trek reboot? (Or did I make that up?) That is basically how I feel about Brandon Routh. He is super, super, superhot. Yes, two of the supers in the previous sentence are maybe due to Superman Returns, wherein he plays the hottest Clark Kent/Superman that's ever been and also a Superman that I can believe in. After the mess that Smallville was/is, that Clark Kent/Superman was really important on this weirdly personal level. I like liking the Good Guy when he makes sense and is so very good.

Also, he's really, really, really hot.

So basically? Right now I'm watching Chuck for the hotness that is Daniel Shaw.

See, I've had a big problem with Chuck the character for a long while now. Because, yes, he's an adorable nerd and he's been overwhelmed by everything for the last two years, but, dude, grow the fuck up already and stop whining. Now you've got super-spy powers in your brain and you've been at this spy thing long enough to not have freak-outs at least once an episode. You've had enough training not to be just a regular geeky dude. You have awesome power at your disposal and stepping up to use it is your duty as a human being. (See, this is where my love for Superman comes in again.)

And then there's the thing with Sarah that mostly just keeps Chuck from having healthy relationships with cute, normal ladies (Rachel Bilson's character! Kristin Kreuk's Hannah who I'm pretty sure still doesn't have a last name!). I'm not feeling the ship. I'd say that ship has sailed and maybe sunk to the bottom of the sea.

I also don't care about most things that happen at the Buy More. I like the spy stuff and the family stuff. The Chuck/Sarah "romance" and the idiots at work at the Buy More blow.

Now, Daniel Shaw is kind of (super)awesome. He lets Chuck have more control and be a spy, because he believes in Chuck the spy. He doesn't have the baggage of knowing Chuck from two years that Sarah and Chuck have, so he can believe in Chuck the spy. He's a swell agent and a good leader overall. (Except for his maybe iffy lack of professional boundaries that I find utterly charming anyway.)

And, yes, I had this momentary feeling that maybe he was going to snap Sarah's neck and kill her at the end of the ep, because this episode was "controversial". But apparently the "controversial" part was due to some fans going apeshit over Daniel and Sarah hooking up, and Chuck and Hannah hooking up. Whatevs, entitled fans! Daniel/Sarah is totes superhot! (And Colonel Casey totally ships them, which means it is AWESOME!) Chuck/Hannah is also nice! (Until it turns out that Hannah is, like, a super-evil assassin, which is what always happens on this show.)

In conclusion: Brandon Routh is totally hot.

tv: chuck, brandon routh is superhot
