ok. i think it would be appropriate to dismiss the notion that Pepperdine = paradise.
first of all, pepperdine is in malibu. malibu is by no means a beautiful place. in fact, as is the trend in southern california, it is filled with mexicans willing to work for low low low wages. there is one nice restaurant, and only three fast food places. other than that, its too vegan or new age to be eaten by any normal american. the city of malibu really only consists of one small outdoor shopping area with two fountains and a ralphs. also, a subway and blockbuster. the rest of malibu is nice houses hidden from pch so no one can find them. the people of malibu are too uptight and refuse to allow any other commercially oriented or entertainment oriented buildings or businesses to be created because they dont want any noise. therefore, large parties are also frowned upon to say the least. the best you get out here is a small gathering at an obscure house hidden away in some development.
pepperdine itself is not much better. i will admit that the campus is nice, but its TINY. i doubt that half of the kids even live on campus, and those who do are too in love with YHWH and the bible to ever develop any sort of social life. the department of public safety is another enormous problem in its own right, but there is far too much to type about that so ill just keep it simple: public safety is a bunch of nazis. seriously. Our gym is tiny as well, especially compared to some of the colleges i have been to out here.
in other words, a small minority of kids at pepperdine are social and attend these parties, which often results in there being nothing to do VERY OFTEN. i guess if you are content with sitting outside by yourself at night enjoying the beautiful campus while reading the bible pepperdine is the place for you.
as far as psu goes - they are the only raesonably good volleyball team i can play for and still manage to afford tuition and everything while still being close to home because i dont think theres any point to coming back oiut here. plus, josh, leslie, luke, gary, jay, and LUNDERMAN are all at psu and craig and gary are only a bus ride away. that is incredibly appealing.
