A long, long time ago, I heard a song called “Master of Puppets” and immediately became a fan of the metal band Metallica. For years, I devoured everything they produced, dutifully running out to buy up each cassette (and later CD) as they came out. When Load and Reload came out, a lot of fans I knew drifted away, unhappy with the direction the music seemed to be taking, but I liked the albums and rolled with the band’s changes.
