Summer Week Three-- A Mosh :)

Jul 07, 2010 14:09

Today is a good, good day to be completely lazy, with the temperature outside hitting triple digits.

However, yesterday, I ventured out on a drive all by myself (I know!) to meet a fellow member of the Geek Dad crew, Kathy Ceceri. We met about halfway between our houses, which turned out to be a small town where I lived until I was five years old.

It's changed. A lot. It used to be an old New England mill town and now it's gone tourist complete with a bike path along the old railway line. It even has a state of the art visitor's center.

It was kinda surreal, really. It was the same place I remember and yet not.

But meeting Kathy was anything but surreal, it was very cool. As she put it, we looked like the same person dressed us. I wore my Superman t-shirt and jean shorts and she wore the Geek Dad t-shirt and jean shorts. We talked about a number of things, including the Geek Mom venture for quite a while before heading home.

The youngest daughter is at summer camp, and the other three amuse themselves quite a bit so today I fiddled on the computer as much as I could. And I got a pleasant, pleasant surprise almost immediately after checking all my websites:

A positive review of Dinah of Seneca!

I was curious what a review in a non-traditional place would do for buzz when I sent off the book for review. Thankfully, it was positive and, also cool, I guessed right that it would have more impact than posting an excerpt on the many sites that allow book promotion. Because, so far, my website hits have tripled, almost to the level they reached when I wrote about James Cameron's Avatar.

Which is a tribute to copperbadge , I think.
