I was in a kiddie lit class last semester and had to review a whole ton of kids books. One that I chose to do was Gaiman's "Wolves in the Walls," which was not as scary as I expected (and not nearly as freaky as Coraline) and was very, very good. Dave McKean illustrated again. If you're in the mood for a very quick Gaiman fix, I'd recommend it. It's pretty eventual.

Actually, that's a good word for everything on the "simple pleasures" list, I think. They're all eventual.

I read it in Borders, actually. It's a book I plan on buying for my kids, 'cause I want 'em to grow up twisted with a dark sense of humor. ^_^ Seriously, though, it's just the sort of book I would have liked as a kid.

Well, long as you manage to keep yourself alive and keep them from having an unnatural fixation on their dear departed mother, they oughta be okay. Hopefully.
