So, my finals start tomorrow and, true to form, I haven't studied for my film final (the one tomorrow) at all. Instead, I got myself obsessed yesterday with Bones. I seriously blame my mother for getting me hooked on crime procedurals. Of course, she may have gotten me hooked, but the incredibly dorky characters keep me coming back.
The temperature finally got above freezing in Chicago. It was about 50 degrees out today, which was such a change from how it's been recently that I had to go out and walk. I went over to the Seminary Coop, which made me feel a deep spiritual connection with the books but also made me feel like a worthless bum because I hardly read anything of value outside of class anymore. Then I walked west down the Midway, which was cool, but made me nostalgic for days of yore, when I spent the majority of my time playing outside. I have a strange urge to go to Sherwood Oaks Park and play on the playground and wade in the creek. Sometimes being at college exhilerates me, but sometimes it makes me yearn to be younger again. Sometimes it does both.
I can't believe how light it is--it's almost seven and the sun still hasn't finished setting. Of course, today was Daylight Savings Time (which, by the way, is the STUPIDEST inconvenience ever conceived), but even so, I'd gotten so used to the sun setting at three in the afternoon throughout the winter that I guess I didn't notice that the days were getting longer. It's so pretty. I ought to take pictures. In fact, I think I will; some weekend, when it's nice out, I'll just go around Hyde Park taking pictures of stuff.
I've become something of a knitting fiend. I need to learn how to use double pointed needles, or at least find some new patterns. I've made two sweaters and two hats this term, and I'm working on a third hat. Every time I sit down, I just start knitting. I've always needed something to do with my hands while watching movies and whatnot, but this is a lot more productive than what I used to do, which is scribble random words on paper or doodle pictures of cubes and smiley faces. Still, there are only so many hats and scarves and even sweaters that one needs. Maybe I should learn how to do mittens, or socks. One always needs socks.
I suppose I should actually begin studying at some point, more's the pity. Hope everyone's springs are off to a good start.
