And if your hand were made of metal, that would mean something.

You know things have gotten bad when you look at the thermometer and think, "Five degrees! Well, that's not so bad!" Things have been SERIOUSLY cold in Chicago. When I went to class Monday morning, it was a balmy -9 degrees, -19 with windchill. And today it snowed buckets. The campus has become incredibly quiet, because a) instead of talking, people wrap their faces in scarves and bow their heads to avoid the horrible wind and b) people are avoiding going outside unless absolutely necessary, so fewer people are out and about. In the past few days, I've actually gotten used to the sensation of snot freezing in my nose and getting better about avoiding having my breath fog up my glasses and then freeze there. I cannot tell you how much I am ready for spring.

Folk Festival is over. I had a great time, but it's kind of nice to not have to worry about hanging up posters and boosting ticket sales. Still, it was awesome. My parents and brother came up Saturday (and plutofriends and junkyardangel were there, too). The concerts were all incredibly awesome. I think Saturday's was my favorite--we had a klezmer act, an Irish act, a Cajun act, a bluegrass act, and a blues act, and they were all totally different and wonderful. I'm going to try to do more workshops next year; this year I spent being tense and thinking "I'm being completely useless! I should do something productive!" and wandering the halls.

Re: Tonight's House:
--Not enough House/Wilson interaction. I miss the days when they'd sit around and have snide conversations making fun of other people. They used to do that, right?
--I wish the kid had taken the internship. I mean, family is incredibly important, and I understand that he'd been really rooted in his culture and was understandably hesitant about entering a different one. At the same time, it seems like he's giving up something he'd be really good at and enjoy, and since his family hates his awesomely hot girlfriend so much, he'll probably end up giving her up, too, and it'll finally get to a point where he'll resent his family for not letting him live his own life. At least, I'm fairly sure I'd reach that point in short order.
--I hope the doctor who took House's spot--I can't remember her name at the moment--makes more appearances. She was really funny. I always love people who can give as good as they get with House.
--I love Foreman more and more with every passing episode. Chase: "He likes sex, so drugs and rock & roll can't be far behind"??!! WTF? A LOT of people like sex without leading especially "wild" lifestyles. Just because you did drugs and kinky stuff as a kid doesn't mean everyone does. Cameron seemed sort of bland this week. She didn't piss me off, but she didn't do anything cool, either. That's odd.

Re: Monday's Heroes
--I'm taking the whole Nathan-as-Claire's father better than I thought I would, given that a lot of the fiction I've been reading thus far has been Peter-Claire. They had a cute chemistry, but the age gap did weird me out a bit, and I find I like the idea of them being uncle and niece. Also, I find I've begun mentally shipping Peter with either Claude or Mohinder. Yay, hotness.
--Speaking of hotness, I...feel bad that Jessica killed that psychologist, but it does seem to teach a moral lesson: If your patient has superhuman strength and is accused of ripping craploads of people apart with her bare hands, maybe you should be OUT OF THE ROOM when you call up her scary serial-killer personality. Also, why is Jessica so mean to her sister? I thought that they were basically in it together, but lately Jessica's just been walking all over Niki. What is up with this locking her in the mirror thing?
--I like Hiro's sister. She should make more appearances and have superpowers and things. And maybe make fun of Ando or something. Aww, Ando. I love him, but he's just as big a dork as Hiro, though in different ways.
--Bennett needs to STOP FREAKING ERASING EVERYBODY'S MEMORIES. Seriously. I like him, but he needs to lay off the Haitian Sensation. Who, by the way, for a religious man, is having surprisingly little objection to what seems like a pretty shady business.
--Sylar. Awesome. Awesomely evil. I enjoy him immensely.
--No Matt. Aww. I really want him to join up with Clea Duvall and fight evil again.
--I think it's really cool that Peter can hold on to powers after he's out of the presence of the people he gets them from, but boy, he's gonna get really powerful really fast. I can see why he definitely needs to get a handle on his powers.
--I demand more Micah. And there was no D.L. at all. We didn't even get a reunion scene between him and Niki, and WTF is up with that?
