I had the Best. Birthday. Ever. At least ever for me.
Let's start with the gifts, (there aren't many but they are sweet):
Mark got me a wine fridge. Mind you I have been hounding his ass for two months about how much I want one. I don't drink very much, but when I do I like it to be decent wine and if I buy decent wine I don't want to be under the gun to drink it right away, so I need a fridge to store them at the right temperature. Despite my obvious need for this, I did not think anyone would care. So I was fabulously surprised when Mark took me up to the loft and showed me my gift. Amazingly, he has had it upstairs this whole time, buried under boxes, and not once while feeding the birds up there did I ever notice. Lovely. Very.
My mom had called me everyday for a week asking me what I wanted. Normally this is a very fruitless method of obtaining this information from me. Someone asks me what I want, I think "well what can you afford?" I told her I had to think about it. A couple days later, she totally shot down my first idea: new bedding. She said she wouldn't know what style I wanted. Very true. So I thought some more and called her back and said I could think of three things. 1) I want some jewelry; 2) an Ipod; 3) a digital camera. She asked me how much the jewelry is and I lowballed a guess around $300. So she decided on the digital camera! I've needed one for a long time. Now I can get random shots of our kitties, of Mark walking around nude, and any oddity I see while wandering around town. (Endless pics coming soon for sure)
My boss got me a $20 Visa gift card. I have two $50 gift cards coming for making $1000+ sales at work, so I'm going to wait until they come before I spend the $20.
Finally, I got myself a lovely silver dragon pendant on a pretty silver chain from Neiman Marcus. It was a total splurge/impulse buy/braindead shopping moment. Let's just say I have a piece to treasure for a lifetime (and how I hope it appreciates over that time as well).
Mark and I met my mom and my aunt and Havana Cafe in Chandler for dinner. We had mojitos and tapas and generally had a good time. I also got my haircut that day, which always feels good 'cus I look like a koala when it grows out.
It was the best birthday I've had in a long, long time, if not ever. I love being around family and friends, I loved the food we ate, and I loved the gifts!
Can't wait 'til next year. In the meantime, I'm hooking everyone up for Xmas.
