Strange happenings at blizzard.com
As of yesterday a myserious-looking portal appeared as the splash screen at www.blizzard.com.
Today, the portal has opened just a little bit. It appears that it will continue to do so as the days progress.
Speculation throughout the WoW community is that an announcement for Diablo 3 is coming very soon. Possibly this Friday, which coincides with one of the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational tournaments.
Blizzard recently acquired the diablo3.com web address from a group of fans who have used it as a fan-site for a very long time. The site was redirecting visitors to the new fan site - diablofans.com. At least, until late last week, when the redirect stopped and surfers now get a good old error 404.
Some intrepid graphics guys have been over-analyzing the portal graphic and believe they have spotted some runes from the old Diablo games in there as well, adding yet more fuel to the fire.
If the speculation holds true and a new version of the popular franchise is announced, my brother is going to be one happy man. Diablo 2 ranks as his all-time favorite game. I have taken the liberty of sending him a heads-up email already.
