Come into the office this morning - we have a guy who works friday-to-monday, but hey, he takes vacations too, so when he's out, any one of the rest of us gets asked to volunteer to cover for a day. I think this then counts as an extra floating holiday or something - never really bothered to really find out. Anyways, yeah, come in thinking, man, seven hours of basically baby-sitting an e-mail address and the phone and the shelves - that's seven hours of *a lot of other stuff* that I could get done!
...then, reality. Nine-thirty to almost one p.m. is one request, and three hours of finishing up last week's time tickets.
...and, the last hour has been like non-stop work.
Of course, non-stop work could very well also exhaust itself, and I'll still have two more hours to myself.
...or it could very well *also* just be another two hours of non-stop work.
Let's see what happens!
