REU at Toledo has kinda begun...ish
Yeah I know it's been a long time since a real entry... Anyway last sunday I moved into the Ottawa House East Hall at the Univerity of Toledo for my Research Experience for Undergraduates program in Physics. The rooms are actually a bit smaller than the Fredonia ones it seems. Everything is alot more modern and new.. and of course... THIS PLACE IS HUGE.
Apparently SUNY Fredonia must be one of the smallest schools in the world. But then I guess this is "The Big City". Now I really know I enjoy the rural/urban life better. This place is to big and confusing and scary. Most of the other REU people come from schools with actual physics programs that have classes besides our basics. The only one up we really have on people is Math Physics for the most part. Everyone is really nice and really cool. However I can't help feeling quite alone. But then I don't get close to others very fast. Most not at all.
There are about 6 Astronomy/Astrophysics people who actually come from schools where they have astro classes. Some people even have "laser optics" classes. But then most of these people go to actual physics or engineering schools and not a MUSIC school :P.
I've been having a good bit of fun with all the people though. Finally got some food bought today too. Overall Im pretty uncomfortable about the whole situation but Ill get through it.. I think. Yeah we'll see... Blah
