Here's something I've spoken to several folk about before, about why Prop 8 did not get passed. It's pretty interesting, and had a lot to do with the fact that the California gay community pays little attention to the needs of the black gay community, and thus those in African American community had no incentive to vote for it. I thought it was a pretty fascinating view on the subject. I know it's been a long while since this all happened, but I'm lazy, and forgot to post this in a timely manner.
