Daniel Day-Lewis Dedicates SAG Award To Heath Ledger
The Screen Actors Guild Awards, one of the few ceremonies to receive waivers from the Writer's Guild (which allowed them to take place without being picketed) were presented last night. I didn't get to watch the ceremony myself (damn you lack of cable, damn you!!), but every recap of the show made mention of Daniel Day Lewis' heartfelt acceptance speech upon winning the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor in A Leading Role. Watching the clip, I have to say it's a fantastic speech. Lewis begins by expressing appreciation for his fellow actors and the inspiration he gains from their work, then smoothly segues into a moving tribute to Heath Ledger and his most memorable performances. Very classy.
