I've been working on a new story idea* and it's in that beginning stage where I'm really excited about it... and it's just as likely to completely fall apart as it is to actually be written. But I've been kind of free-writing ideas for it for the past two days and so far I'm pretty happy with what I've got but I could use a little help.
I don't want to get too specific about it, but it's about children and their imaginary friends. I had one growing up, but that's only one, and since this will be about many kids and many imaginary friends, I thought I might do a little research to see what other kinds of friends people had.
Did you have an imaginary friend growing up?
If so, what was he/she/it like?
* So on the 2nd of January, I started doing 750Words.com, wherein you commit to writing 750 words every day. Doesn't matter what you write, just write. I signed up because I want to get more serious about my writing and so far it's been going well for me. Now, granted, it's only been 8 days and I'm not in school again yet, but I've hit at least 750 words every day. And I'm finding it very... cathartic. I was never any good at forced free-writing exercises in school, but this has actually worked for me. Some days I just use it like a diary to get whatever's bothering me out of my head and other days I've been using it to completely outline fics or this new original story. Sure, it's only day 8, but so far I'm loving this. It takes 66 days to make something a habit so we'll see if I'm still doing this in March.
