I loved Gravity - so tense and thoughtful. Sandra Bullock was a revelation. I really, really wanted to like 12 Years a Slave but boy. It was mostly tedious where it should have been powerful, not least because it was MUCH too long. Also I thought it finishes when I'd have liked to have seen what happened next (when you watch it you'll see what I mean, when the bits of text come up that explain what he tried and failed to do...) because that would have made a much more complete and powerful statement about the wrongs that were done to him. It's hard to explain without spoilers! LOL But I'll be interested to know what you think when you see it. I found Mandela a MUCH better film and can't believe it failed to get any nominations. Pah!
I didn't fancy Wolf of Wall Street at all - watching a complete film about horrible people isn't my idea of fun! http://www.theguardian.com/film/2014/jan/19/the-wolf-of-wall-street-review
