slime and mushrooms and rock n roll

Ugggh, I cannot stand another day of cloudy, damp, humid, saturated (depressing) weather. But I will have to, because that's all the forecasts are promising. No breeze, just a low, dark ceiling of cloud, all day, everyday. Everything in my house is damp - wood surfaces, upholstery. I think there are mushrooms growing between the couch cushions. So naturally I am hosting the family holiday dinner Friday night. Trying hard to clean and scrub and sparkle what I can, but this overlying feeling of muck has me considering hauling the ACs back out. So not cool for the end of September. It should be crisp and dry and sunny, hasn't nature read the rules?

I've been asking this for years but someone remind me why the ancient Romans could build aquaducts but we can't channel water from flooded New Jersey to parched Texas and Florida? Anyone?

The boys are having band practice here after school. As they play well but have no vocalist, I am considering taking the Shirley Jones route and singing lead for them if I am cleaning down there while they are jamming. But I refuse to wear a velvet pantsuit with a lacy cravat. Just sayin'.

band, weather, rock and roll, luke
