The nostalgia continues

I'm still being overwhelmed with nostalgia for songs and shows and other images from my childhood. I wonder if this is because I'm remembering myself at the age my children are now, or if it's simply a recognition of my age and that of my siblings, or a combination. I also wonder if it might be leading up to something creative.

Back to the here and now, thanks for the bday wishes. I had a mellow day, which for me is the best. I like a day when I'm not expected to be at someone's house, or have someone over, and aside from getting the kids where they need to be (hockey, dance), the day is wide open. I hung out, basked in the sun, painted my toenails, and let the kids crack me up. They never fail, even if it is unintentional.

Driving Bookworm home:
"Did Mrs. Murphy mention anything about dance class tomorrow?"
"No."
"No?"
"Well, she said there was class tomorrow."
Cue snorts and giggles from Co and Ed.
"I think that qualifies as saying something about class tomorrow."

This morning, dropping some clean laundry in Luke's room:
"Do you need any laundry?"
"I don't have any socks."
"Really?" That doesn't seem right.
"Nope. No socks."
"Well, is there anything you can wear... colored socks, baseball socks..."
I open his drawer to reveal at least 7 pair of socks that used to be his favorites but have been usurped by the now-favored ankle style.
"..."

Sillyheads.
Did I mention that all 3 of them made me a lovely, unique-to-them, bday card? Yeah. I'll keep them.
