Useful Exploration

I smell like a coconut macaroon.

In my quest to work with my extremely dry, psoriatic skin, I'm finally slapping some coconut oil on straight, since we have some of it on hand.  Chris has no complaints, he says I taste delicious when we have relations.  I'm counting that as a plus.

In other news, I'm loving the homemade soap a lot, it's exceeding expectations by a fairly large margin.

I had normal skin as a kid, then went through the teen oily years wishing I had dry skin instead.  Well, lo and behold, my 20s hit and I got super extra dry skin with psoriasis to boot :P  I'm a water lover, but soap has been really rough on me for the past decade, even super mild store bought stuff.  It strips my skin and flares the heck out of my plaques.  Shampoos are the absolute worst.  They're so rough on my skin that I've kind of braced for showers a bit over the years, and the medicated shampoos tend to have red warnings labels about ingredients causing cancer :P

The homemade soap is way way way gentler for some reason though.  Maybe because it's so simple?  I can't tell for sure.  All I know is that it doesn't seem nearly as harsh on my plaques, and coconut oil seems to help with the patches that still try to dry out badly.

Oddly, I can use the homemade soap bars as shampoo too.  It doesn't make my hair fluffy like commerical shampoo, but it's still silky and workable.  If storebought soap is put into hair, usually it turns hair really stiff and odd feeling.  So overall, a 2 in 1 soap/shampoo that's easy on my skin is way better than anticipated from a random hobby experiment.  I do like it when explorations give more than just experience.  Curiosity and gathering data are good things to me, but when useful items or knowledge result, that's the best of the best :)
