The Joy of Basking

I've gotta say, something I like a lot about having more money: actually using the thermostat.

Back when we were kicking off, money was so tight that we didn't touch it at all.  When we got to OK with wilder weather, we just used it to keep the house above 50 degress or below 85 degrees.  We mostly used clothing and drinks to stay warm or try to cool off.  Cold baths were good in the summer.  It saved a couple dozen dollars a month, which was significant at the time, all sorts of little things added up.

I get ear infections and sick so often though, like once a month, just before my period. It's rare that I go to the doctor, usually infections heal themselves if you keep sleeping/drinking/eating at every chance possible. It really is nice to turn the termperature up to the 70s in winter, it's like basking lizard type temperature.  The warm air helps my ears heal so much faster, and I don't get chilled again when undressing for a shower or to change clothes.  I feel a bit like a wimp, not just enduring seasons when necessary, but seriously, I really do appreciate actually using a thermostat.  Since we're in a one bedroom apartment again, total electricity costs are only $53 for last month.  So nice to have little spaces, they're so easy to clean and cheap to heat/cool :)
