birthday.

I dont know why, but for some reason birthdays are important to me. Maybe its because its a celebration of a person in your life. So, if people miss it for bs reasons, I get pretty upset. Even if it's a friend's birthday they're missing. If you've been friends long enough, you know when it is, and, to me, should prioritize it even over relationships and or anniversaries because these are the people who know you, have been through so much with you, and have been in your life a large amount of time. Showing up to celebrate that is the least they should be able to expect. Even if it's awkward, show your face. Lord knows I have. Not that things don't get in the way, like work, as happened to most of the people that bailed on me Friday, but you try if you care.

Anyway, on the whole, for someone who pays much attention to the details of friends, I really miss cues. Today, my aunt and uncle were asking me questions about my birthday and distracting me in the store so I didn't catch them getting me a cake. And I was then surprised by the cake. I almost forget my birthday is in a day. And then I relayed to them the story of my 20th surprise combo birthday with Claire. One of my favorite memories. Moments like that, with such effort, can never be replaced. Good thing I'm stubborn. Not. Hahahaha. I'll be 23. What a life.
