I’ve always liked formals - getting the chance to dress up, go out and dance, but wait!! It got better in college - open bar!! Oh man.

Throughout university, I attended my formals always with a close friend or someone that was very important in my life. My sisters would sometimes ask if I was nervous about it and being rejected, and I said no, because I knew that always, someone would come for me, and it would be fun.

Once or twice I was disappointed, but eventually, my wish came true.

This was the first time attending a formal event without a great friend around, and while getting ready, I looked at my photo wall and smiled that weird half smile I do when missing people, but it was still fun. Eyy, I had my volleyball girls, plus I will be missing ASA formal. <3 <3 miss you guys.

Edinburgh Napier University Women's Volleyball Team '11-'12.

Our team wound up winning best performance team of the year for placing 1st in Scotland and 5th in the UK (out of 176 universities! (woww!)) and our Coach won Coach of the Year. I’ve played volleyball since high school, and by the time I was a senior, I was captain and we were undefeated and had won the Island Championships and headed to the NYC playoffs. We didn’t make it far, and at Stony Brook, I only participated in intramurals for fun with friends. I was happy to be able to play seriously again (on a University team, at that), and practice drills, plus the girls made all the difference. It was a grand thing to be part of and a wonderful experience.
