Now:

Then:

Today is my ex roommate/line sister/sorority sister, Yuan's birthday!
We met my freshman year in the spring, when I decided to take Eastern Religions with Marc. She sat next to me conveniently most of the beginning of the semester, but I didn't talk to her. In truth, she looked annoyed often and fuck the world, of which I later found out this was due to her constantly being tired from her late night shifts at the hospital. Eventually, we were forced into my ever favorite group work, and looking around, she was the closest that would make up the three, including Marc.
We got to talking, and hit it off, and all my preconceived notions of ahhh, angry girl were gone. So fast did we click, that she asked me to room with her in Roth the following year. I was excited, as I wanted to move to Roth, having seen how it was due to my constant visits to Joe&Glenn's room and Alex and Rob's. I discussed it with my current roommates, who were noncommital about the following year, and told her yes. Sad I would be leaving Michele, and unaware of what was going on with Juhyun and I. (at this point in time, she had begun to distance herself from me).
I moved in, a week after her (she had band camp), and after welcome wagon, and soon found myself living with Claire as well! (a girl I had met at GLS orienation) What a small world! We all got along pretty well, and hung out a lot. I met Yuan's band friends and went to house parties and flat parties as well, where she taught me how to chug. "Just open your throat!" (loll!) and flip cup. It was great fun. And I met her boyfriend and introduced them to everyone and we drank together, and Kim and I first smoked with Aleksey. yuck.
Some time during the semester, she was laying on her bed and just asked me about joining a sorority. I kind of blanched initially, but she wanted to do it, and so we began looking into it.
Over the winter, we stayed up in the Poconos and went snowboarding two days in a row, and jumped in a freezing cold pool and ran outside back to our room. It was great fun and I was happy to have another girl friend to hit the slopes with.
Spring came around and we found ourselves in the midst of formal recruitment. We spent our last night being allowed to drink with Marc and his friends, in which I experienced my first time of getting sick from alcohol. She came in to comfort me, and while rubbing my back, almost pushed me in the toilet and then made out with Marc some. We were soon going through the process and eventually crossed, Kelso and Magmar.
After junior year, I moved onto West with our other suitemates, while she stayed behind. We have had fun adventures, from our toga mixer to which we were both so drunk we started talking in French to one another, to running into the middle of another sorority/frat mixer so she could pee unto which she completely fell on the floor and I could not stop laughing, to her being so sick, and getting out and throwing up on me, to running circle road, to playing volleyball together, to snowboarding together, to clubbing together, to buying formal dresses together, to going through break ups and broken hearts and sadness together to wonderful dinners together.
It's been a whole 4 years. Happy Birthday, Kelso!
I'm so glad group work & Eastern Religions brought us together, even if I almost killed you pledging. :)
xx
