Why is it that I only post when I'm upset?

I've just gone back through my archive and noticed this. This is terrible! So. Here are the things that have gone right recently, for posterity!

- We left Sydney in a shitbox of a car and made it all the way to south Victoria without dying (this is an achievement of note, as we later discovered that the breaks were shot)!

- We got out of Australia! And financially we broke even! The bitch landlady even gave us our bond back!

- I got my Mangere patch sorted, and it is now ticking along quite nicely.

- I left the Manukau office with all its bullshit, and arrived back at Akl City to immediately be smothered in love by my old colleagues.

- Am slowly getting the hang of working with pre-schoolers. Still don't particularly like it, but am coping well enough. Better than the early intervention therapists who are suddenly having to cope with school kids!

- My car is a beauty, and has given me absolutely no problems since coughing up her innitial storage-related hairballs. The engine purrs, the bass thumps, and the wind blows my hair around when I take the tops off.

- The friend who came to New Years with me hasn't spoken to me since then ... not sure why. But I'm OK with it now. Good while it lasted and all that.

- Moved into a lovely new 3 bedroom house in July. Can now stretch out arms in the lounge AND NOT TOUCH ANYTHING! Even managed to get some cuttings of a hydrangea to grow in the front garden!

- Got burgled a couple of months ago (10K's worth of electronics, including laptop, AGAIN!), but insurance has paid out and alarm has been installed.

- Bought a new lounge suite, bedroom suite, coffe table, hall table and am planning on a new dining table, so yay for pretty stuff!

- We are saving up a deposit for a home of our own, hoping to have about 65K by 2013 (all going according to plan). Tried to get a morgage in the middle of this year, but student loans combined with low deposit combined with S just having started a new job meant not a snowball's chance in hell. But that's OK, those are all things that time on its own will sort.

- Parents' house in Chch was miraculously undamaged by quake! Amazing being that it's made of cinder block and is in Marshlands! But yeah, not even a crack.

- I have done two more acting courses this year, which have been great.

- I've done three student films, which turned out crap but which were awesome experience and have built my skills and confidence up to a point where my agent is now cooing over me.

- I got my first paid job in June! It was an ad for an Aussie insurance company, and I got to be a bride.

- I got my second paid job last month! You may now see me on TV (for an entire 2 seconds :) ). It is one of the new National Bank ads, the one where the first shot is of a dippy looking couple in front of a bookshop. I'm that girl. You'd be forgiven for not recognising me, the hair and makeup took 3 hours! But they're going to use the photo stills as well, so yay for even more money!

- Currently doing an American Accents course, which is good. Apparently my pronounciation is great, I just need to work on the intonation.

- Got some great new headshots done, which I will be forwarding to agents in the hope of getting a new one that does more than ads.

- The wrinkles on my forehead are there, but do not appear to be getting worse, which at my age is a minor miracle. Do need to pluck eyebrows, though ... starting to look like the Titirangi Bush!

- Two seperate sets of friends are preggers, v.v. excited. The Kenyan one is coming back to NZ (she's a citizen) to have hers and will be staying with me, which will be exceedingly interesting. I have bought a bassinet and everything!

- We've come to the decision that we do not intend to breed. This is actually a massive load off my mind, because all of a sudden there is no longer a time limit on things we want to do. And, with preggers friends, we get to comandeer other people's children for the fun bits and then hand them back when they do something disgusting :)

- Have applied to do my masters next year. Don't know for sure yet, but the co-ordinator emailed me with instructions and signed off "welcome back", which sounds promising.

- Am applying for a new job as the clinical director at Akl Uni's SLT course. Probably won't get it, but fun to try anyway.

- S got a job as a business analyst with Goodman Fielder in June, and is rocking it making the company tons of money (which should, hopefully, translate to a payrise when he's reviewed next month).

- Wine and cigarette consumption have both dropped back down to pre-Sydney levels, and are managable.

- In related news, private health insurance has been successfully acquired after a long and arduous battle, so I can now pay for cancer treatment when the time comes ;)

- Cat is fat and happy, and only occasionally annoying.

- Brother is still alive (is in South Africa, so I find this suprising) and happy.

- I have never had a relapse of the depression that got me back at uni. My brain chemicals have decided to remain delightfully balanced :)

In short, I am doing well, and I am happy. There are blips, and things that piss me off, but that is normal and always passes. For the most part, I am good.
