That was the worst shift. Ever.

Moved from our 2-bedroom shoebox to a 3-bedroom freestanding on the weekend.

Didn't start packing until Sat moring, because I'm lazy.

The ute we'd borrowed to move got stuck in the mud in our previous driveway (don't get me started), so stuff started going late to begin with.

Had called the power company last week Tue (the previous tenants had managed to get the power disconnected), and they'd promised to have it reconnected on Sat, so I had a mate sitting at the new place waiting for them (they won't do it otherwise).

In the mean time, S had gone to fetch our new cupboard (there are no built-ins), bought off trade me. The seller failed to mention that it was riddled with borer and has a fist sized hole in it. No way I'm letting that in the house, then. The seller wasn't there at pickup (she left some or other cousin there to do it), so we took it - retrospect says we shouldn't have, it's now sitting in the rain at the back of the section and we have no cupboard.

Then the corner of said cupboard was dropped on S's foot. Then our mate pulled in in his car and managed to run over S's other foot.

At this point, we discover ... NO POWER.

I call Mercury, and am informed by a computer that I will need to call on Mon morning. I call the emergency line, and am told by some bitch that I need to call back on Mon morning.

Cue weekend with no shower, no heating and a freezer full of meat slowly going off, as well as two sleepless nights having immaginary arguments with surley customer services representatives.

Not fucking happy.

Now, yes, it could have been worse. It could have rained, they did get the power on by 9:30 this morning, and we did only pay $20 for the wardrobe.

But still. Let this go down in history as the single WORST SHIFT EVER.
