Another Monday came and went, heralding the week of hell to follow. Since I stayed up late cleaning on Sunday night, I woke up late and, consequently, got into work late. Then I had a meeting which kept me from doing anything newspapery until after noon. When I finally did get myself motivated, I was set back by an office-wide e-mail malfunction that kept me from accessing any columns that needed editing. Needless to say, it was a pretty unproductive day, the cherry on the sundae being my monster sinus (allergy related?) headache that made staring at my computer that much more unbearable.
Since Monday sucked, it was up to Tuesday to make up the difference, at least on a karmic scale. But, of course, Tuesday generally being vortexy, it successfully failed to live up to all expectation. Left with all of Monday's work to finish, it was no big surprise to find that, last night, the computer network we are hooked up to ate every file that had been put into the system. Panic ensued; reporters and editors alike cursed more than usual at their computers as they struggled to find some form of backup copy, while those less fortunate were forced to retype and rewrite stories that had taken a week's worth of their nonrefundable hours and minutes the first time around. It's been swell!
Despite this two-day long suckfest (which hopefully will not become a yearly thing), there were a few yay-type things that managed to help turn my frown upside down:
- My Runaways Vol. 7 TPB and my copy of issue #3 of the Buffy comic came in the mail. *happy dance* Also a plus: My comic had the variant cover. And did anybody have any clue before reaching the last page that he was Amy's "boyfriend," or did it catch everyone by surprise like it did me?
- Monday, being a Monday, had Heroes, which, once again, went above and beyond it's already established awesomeness.
- I've made it through all of Buffy season 5, and will be starting season 6 tonight, which puts me at disk 27/40. I figure I'll have made it through the whole series by next Tuesday, but we'll see. Do you think it's some kind of record - some kind of sad, lack of social life record - to cruise through all seven seasons in four weeks?
- Aislinn's been sleeping in her crib so regularly now that she goes to bed at 8 p.m., stays down for a while, and has no problem going back in her crib after waking up for a bottle. This means I get my bed to myself for the whole night, not just part of the night, so I sleep much better. Yay, sleep!
- And, finally, I wasn't as bad off as everyone else at work today since I still had copies of my files hanging around in my recycle bin. *clicks restore* Score one for the badass that is me!
