Pre Winter Roady, Wedding and Golf Game

Hey everyone! As most of you know I was away in illinois and michigan this past weekend for a few events. What a trip it was...I thought I would take some time to jot a few things down from the road and the way home. We left thursday night after work and really didn't get out of calgary and on the highway until about 8 or 8:30 at night. We drove and drove and drove. For those of you that don't know the trip to illinois to where we were going is about a 25 hour trip or so if you don't stop along the way and then from illinois we went and saw a friend of mine that lives in michigan for a golf game which was another 4 hours away. There's not a lot of excitment until we get to the border on these trips. Everytime we go we checked for drugs, interrogated and questioned. Its always a good relaxing time for stephen and I because we've had this happen so often and we know what to expect and know that we've got nothing to hide so ask away. Trevor I think was a little nervous even though he won't admit it, but hey that was one of his summer goals was to get questioned at the border so even though its sept I would say he can scratch that off the list. First main stop was in Minnisoda. We stopped there because I have a friend named kristin that i've talked to for the last 3 or 4 years that i've never met so she was willing to meet us off the highway and we needed lunch anyways so stop we did. Thanks Kristin for eating with three smelly roadtrip boys, it was nice to stretch the legs and meet a friendly face on the way. Next was the mall of america in minniapolis. We wanted to pick up a few things, I needed a hat because my hair was terrible. So I picked up a cubs hat, so stoked about that. Stephen bought some purple shoes and some great music. Never eat at white castle....NEVER! The place is so so sketchy. The idea of their food is great...the food however is not! So don't ever eat there. Terrible!

After the mall we drove to madison wisconsin and decided we would get a hotel and sleep till the next day because we were all so tired and we only had about 2 hours to go till we got to where the wedding was. What a great sleep! Got up and then hauled to Dekalb where the wedding was. We got there an hour before the wedding and since we couldn't check into our hotel yet we changed into our clothes in the church parking lot. The wedding was awesome, such a good time and I was so thankful to see those girls again, its been three years since the last time and now one of them is married...that's crazy! After the wedding we went out for a few drinks with friends that night. Sleep, then hit the road again at 7 in the morning to get to Grand rapids to catch a 1 o clock tee time for golfing. Went Golfing with my friend Mike and then had a great great supper and visit with him before hitting the road sunday night to get home for tuesday because stephen had to write a test tuesday morning at school. We only stopped again in Minot for lunch with my friend coreen who was part of the crew back in didsbury. I haven't seen her for a long time and again i was very thankful to beable to spend time eating and catching up and meeting her and her husbands child. So cute! Left minot and then had another 45 min stop over at the border to get checked out and searched again and then hauled home. We got home around 1 in the morning early tuesday morning. Lots of driving...not a lot of sleeping, one speeding ticket in north dakota...15 miles over the limit I guess means you pay 15 US. I sent that off today, enough money spent, memories with the best friends you could ask for, best trip ever.
