Today would have been my 82nd birthday.
We had a strained relationship for many years - mainly due to my marriage.
And, when I ended that - we reunited as a family and we began to rebuild our relationship.
But, she fell to Alzheimers a very short year later - and eventually I lost her for good.
I know I've done this in the past - but I'd like to post the prayer I wrote on behalf of my family for her funeral some 8 years ago now.
Rest in peace Virginia .
May the good lord show you the way to everlasting peace and happiness with those that have left your life in years gone by.
Reacquaint yourself with the sweet memories of your past - forget the pain that etched itself in the corners of your smile.
And set a place for the rest of us to share one of your loving meals when we join you once again.
I know you'll be well taken care of - in that much I have faith.
Go your newfound way - and live again in the only light that shines eternal.
