so about 2 weeks ago, I "applied" for my absentee ballot, and low and behold, I still have not received it! So, like the good citizen that I am, I call the state of IL election board to complain. And they informed me that an absentee ballot had been sent to my house as of Oct. 30. So I asked what to do if I haven't yet received it, and they said something along the lines of "well, if you get it today, send it in right away!" gee, thanks elections board. gee, thanks US mail system. I tried to vote, and I know where my candidates stand on important issues. and I care so much about the whole system because it is such a fundamental right/obligation as a US citizen. and if we are promoting it/forcing it to countries around the world, then we as citizens need to stand up and vote. but enough of that...
Now- Why Ellen is Super Excited this Week!
I brought a one-way ticket to Israel! I am going on the group flight on Jan. 21 from New York to Jerusalem! the company has a system where you pay for the round trip ticket, but only book one way because I have no idea when I want to come home in May/June or later this summer. And the company knows that so they don't ask you to book round-trip. And I started to fill out the visa application, but I think my computer printed the margins wrong or something, and it is really confusing. Because hebrew is read right to left, and english is left to right, and the visa is in both languages, and the spacing is totally wrong because of my printing error (I don't know how it happened...), I have no idea how to fill is out! I think that is probably a bad omen for the rest of my study abroad experience, but later today (when I have time), I am planning on reprinting the form and seeing if that helps (it should).
