WCKS Fest

Aug 25, 2005 09:45

On Monday I check my LJ friends page to see that MacKenzie is ranting and raving about some festival that she's putting on to raise awareness for WCKS, the GVSU radio station. She's the head honcho at "The Whale" so I knew any operation hosted by her would be top notch. Okay, so maybe I was just lured by the prospect of free food. Either way, I decided to make an appearance.

"4-7 around the allendale clock tower" she proclaimed.

Miss MacKenzie gets up to do the announcer thing. Who's up first? That's right, it's...

Mantra, who happened to be sporting the stand up bass. I've always been a fan of bands with stand up bassists. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Next up was Paul Baribeau. He kicked off his set without any guitar. Well, not really. You know that slappy thing you do on your guitar to get a little rhythm without really playing it? Yeah, he did that. Very cool.

Mantra and Paul are too much for Mack to handle. In the middle of each set she unexpectedly decides to run a little twist, mixed with a dash of skank. Oh yeah.

Between Paul and Across The Hall they announced some giveaways. A free bike...

And a Teddy Scare. "He's got his eye on you." GET IT? Ahahahaha. I did not win either prize. :( Can you say rigged?

Finally the dudes from Across The Hall give it a shot.

For some reason Rob and Mike fall in love with the wall. I think they blamed it on me.

In the end, we have rock in its purest form. And nothing beats rock, except maybe sex and drugs.
