It's official. Best ever.
Despite my earlier hesitation and general cynicism that it would actually be any good, the multiplayer on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is quite possibly the best thing since sliced bread. More addicting, fun and rewarding than TV Tropes, I spent majority of my evening (a few hours after Tim and I had our epic Soul Calibur beatdown-chat fest) playing with a whole bunch of dudes that I’ve never met before.
Like many shootie games, I’m not the best at it but I’m not wholly terrible either. I spent a whole lotta time playing co-op with some guy who later even friended me and even said “fo sho you play pretty good” xD I was just so excited about that friending though, since the only friends on my list are Tim and her sister. Baby steps guys, baby steps.
The only downside of the play with/against other people in the world experience is the whole playing with other people bit. I had an amusing death match with some guy with way too much time on his hands and was the only person in the 5vs5 group with a mic. I should’ve muted it when I had the chance -__- I don’t know what it is with players telling other players (even the opposing team!) how to play. There is no life or death situation resting on this one game, we’re just meant to have fun yeah?
So I managed to kill this guy by hanging off a ledge unnoticed and pulled him off. Ok it’s a bit of a cheesy kill, but hey, if you’re stupid enough to stand on a ledge for long enough, blabbering through your mic you deserve it right? XD Anyway, the guy goes nuts, swearing his little nerd-raging head off at me, “eff you coolie_bins!” and so on. I almost felt embarrassed for the guy, but he and his friends then started ganging up on me like crazy after that. When I couldn’t kill anyone and just continued to die everywhere, he started going off “coolie_bins doesn’t know how to play LOL”. Seriously, I was only level one (and they could see that on my profile) and had only killed 2 guys in this match. I was absolutely no threat whatsoever, so why the hate guys? What are you trying to prove *cough*overcompensate for*cough*? It reminded me too much of WoW guild conversations, except the hating, raging and general bad language seemed to subside when the whole “oh, you’re a girl?!” thing was mentioned. I play like crap because I play like crap. The girl has nothing to do with it. Sheesh.
This is why I like the co-op better. People are nicer in co-op. The world should be made out of co-op. Co-op for Prime Minister! I seem to work better with people, rather than against them.
In fact, I’m going to play it right now. Hurry up and all of you get PS3’s and/or Uncharted 2 already. I need more friends xD
In other news, I had work today and guess what? It was still horrible. Where is my real life job? *tear*
