[If you've seen the Doctor lately, you might notice that he's acting a bit strange. He's abandoned his electronic workings and is instead outside mowing his lawn, no longer wearing tweed and a bowtie, wearing jeans instead. So basically acting normal, but for him that's strange. It's obvious to anyone knows him is that he's droned ( Read more... )

[w-watches him in silence for a moment, WHAT DOES NAM SEE IN YOU.....]

Good of you to join us again. Your drone was terribly annoying.

[it is a question many have asked Charles and none have found the answer...]

Charlie! Nice to see you haven't changed a bit. Was he? Hopefully he didn't do anything too embarrassing after putting me in jeans.

Charles. [charlie is nowhere near refined enough for him!!] He was no more or less embarrassing than any other drone, but very bland. You know how drones are. He could very well have lopped his foot off with the lawn mower and carried on smiling like an oblivious imbecile.

Charlie is a nice name too, don't you think. [Sorry Charles, the Doctor likes nicknames...] Well, I suppose that doesn't make me more annoying than usual, well maybe it does, as I'm usually so interesting and vibrant.

It's juvenile. [do you see the disdain do you.

he kind of scoffs at the interesting and vibrant remark, though he doesn't argue against it.] A dull person is annoying in their own right, you know? I'd have to push you in front of a car to get any enjoyment from your presence like that, and that's just not worth the effort. [....not that he enjoys his presence under normal circumstances or anything!!]

It's like Charlie Chaplin! And let me tell you, he was a firecracker. [He sees the disdain but only finds it endearing because he is a cloudcuckoolander like that]

Exactly, it's why I hate being droned. The worst thing in the universe is to be dull. He didn't bother you, did he? Though I appreciate that you didn't push me in front of a car. [of course not :|]

It might have fit him fine, but such silly names don't suit me in the least. [strange cloud cuckoolanders he will never understand them. anyway, back to being all uppity.]

Perhaps I should have, it might have knocked some sense back into your empty head sooner.

Well, alright then. Charles it is. [He's going to forget in a few days. Aaand licking another brick]

Well, I don't think it works that way. Obviously, he existed here like an empty vessel for my mind to return to properly. Dunno why I came back when I did though, maybe it was just chance.

Isn't it always? God knows what factors go into deciding when we come or go.

[stares at.....]

So, were you returned to us with a compulsion to be disgusting, or is that just normal and your tendency to lick building material has escaped me up until now?

Maybe whoever is in charge here, isn't in charge of that for whatever reason. I really had a lot I needed to do back home. Things would have been very bad if I hadn't been able to return.

No, that's recent. Well, recent to this body. Just trying to check the age of the molecules in the brick. Barely decayed at all, it's really only been a few days here.

Ugh, tastes like dirt.

It might just have been timing, but I suppose that is one way of looking at it. ...And yes, bricks generally do taste of unpleasant things so it might be in your best interest to stop doing so.

[a beat] How long were you gone in your own world, then?

Probably right, I've figured it out now.

[He turns to Charles, leaning back against the wall]

Nine months. Quite a long time, I think, to most people. Felt like a long time, even to me.

[he almost says something along the lines of 'only a human would find that to be a long time', but as he opens his mouth he realises that nine months is only two shy from the amount of time he's spent in Mayfield.] ...Hm. Long enough, I suppose. Did you get anything of worth done while you were there, at least?

[He's right, usually that time would seem like nothing to him. But considering everything that happened...]

Of course I did. Restarted the entire universe after it collapsed. Then I got erased from existence, that was unpleasant, but I managed to fix that too. Well, technically that was Amy, just in time to attend her wedding!

[o-oh... that's pretty impressive, but he's not going to voice that thought out loud.] How could you manage something like that? When one says erased from existence, it's generally thought to be a permanent thing.

Sometimes, if something can be remembered it can be brought back. I just had to trust in Amelia Pond to remember her old imaginary friend from childhood and bam! There was back, like I'd never gone.
