[When the Doctor's voice first comes over the line, it's quiet and distant, as though he doesn't intend for the town to be hearing him right now. His voice sounds tired, but also full of a deep sadness]Suppose it's over then, Old Girl. For now anyway, didn't go quite as well as I hoped but it was good to see that you were safe. He might not seem like the type to help us, given that he takes things. However, if you flip the chessboard, he returns us what was taken. Perhaps while the town has the power to give us things back gradually, he has the power to return it right away, but at a cost. That is quite a strong power.

But what's in it for him? What do we lose to win? Nothing in this town has ever left us better off before.

Somehow, I wouldn't doubt it. Yes, but if everyone in the town leaves, he doesn't have anyone giving him things at the post. Unless everyone who wants to leave is sacrificing everyone that stays then... that's bad.

He could be alright with that.

I'm not saying I trust him or that ballot. I just see no reason to not trust him.

Oh yes, let's trust the one who decided to warp our Christmas letters into horrible visions and lies. Yeah, that's the smart way to do it.

No, I'd rather trust neither of them and rely on ourselves instead.

Ignoring him all together could lead to trouble as well. Why not take a leap of fate? What's the worst they can do to us anyway?
