[Lucas finds himself snarled in strings of light and tangled in tinsel. What is being a pushover? He'd only really wanted to just compliment the hat... The boy will glance down at the decorations and blink.]

Um.

So all of this is for... Christmas? That was the gift-giving holiday, right?

Yes, yes, that's the one. All of these things are very important for the Christmas experience.

[He still looks a little blank, but Lucas will nod.]

OK! ...It's an important holiday because it makes a lot of people happy, right? So... they'll all be happier the nicer it looks.

[Lucas will stare very intently at the Doctor's work before moving off to another tree to replicate the job. ...It's a passable effort. After he practices on a few, the Doctor may notice that the bottom halves of the trees Lucas gets to are quite nice... while everything above 6 feet is totally naked.]

Generally, it's important to deck the entire tree. Otherwise it gets a little depressing.

O-Oh. ...Right.

[Whenever he stops looking, Lucas will jump up and down in place and lob tinsel and lights randomly over the top.]

...Need some help?

[The Doctor approaches behind him, putting a hand on his shoulder.]

[Lucas jumps again. In surprise.]

Oh! No. It's OK, I think it looks...

[Like someone TP'd the tree with holiday decorations.]

.......Um. Awful.

Come on then. You need to get higher. Can't leave the tree looking like that.

[aaand he's kneeling down so Lucas can climb up on his shoulders.]

[Lucas looks a bit embarrassed about the whole thing before reluctantly walking around to the Doctor's back.]

Thanks. ...Oh, wait a moment!

[And he'll leave him hanging for a few seconds while he runs back to the decorations. He returns with a star.]

I liked this part the best last year.
