I made a promise to someone that I would update my journal so they could know what's going on in my life and so that's what I'm doing. It might be brief though because I'm at work

Well I am glad you finally had a chance to update. Are things going any better at work?
So glad you were able to talk things out with your g/f. Sounds like you are a little afraid of commitment maybe because of what you saw of marriage in your home? I know I have a mega fear of commitment! Anyways, it sounds all good now.
Please don't stop calling yourself a Christian. You are a better example than a lot of others I know. (including moi)
I'm not really afraid of commitment, I'm was afraid that she thought I was more comitted than I am. She's veru different from me and her fa,ily is very different from what I'm used to so I have to have the proper amount of time to get to know her and make sure that I can be with her forever before I make that sort of commitment.
The thing about me not calling myself a Christian was more to point out how terrible I've been doing at it, not to say that I would actually do that. If I ever did do it, it would not be that I was renouncing Christ, but rather that I don't deserve the title. I know that no one does, but sometimes I feel like I don't make any effort at all.
I know that is what you meant. That is why I told you that you are a better example than a lot of Christians I know. If you feel like you are stagnating spiritually, pick up a good Christian book. Or try praying on your knees instead of doing "cover" prayers. (Just a few suggestions that help me sometimes.)
You've taught me so much about God and the Bible, believe it or not. I know so much more because of you. If your not a good "Christian" then Im afraid to even think of what I should consider myself. You inspire me

I'm glad that I've taught you a lot about God. Sometimes I don't know where it comes from and I can only assume that the Holy Spirit is speaking through what I write. If there's any truth to what I say then it must be Him because my head s too much of a mess to come up with anything useful, not that I would ever offer something from my head when I can give what the Holy Spirit has to say. I'm flattered that you think I inspire you, but since my inspiration comes from God then that means that you're actually inspired by Him too. You should check out the essay that has me inspired right now. let me know what you think about it.
Hey, I think I'm that person you told that you would update!
I want to respond to your post, but I will first respond to this comment. Sorry I didn't read your journal earlier but I was away all weekend and just got home last night.
I really don't think that you need to worry about whether you're one of the elect. If you came to Christ, He accepted you. Joel 32:2/Acts 2:21/Romans 10:13: And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved. Acts 16:31: Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved. Romans 10:9: That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Don't worry. You are a work in progress and God isn't going to give up on you!
As for your original post, I echo the sentiments of the others who have posted on here: it's a relief that you were able to have a good serious talk with Courtney and get some things out.
Don't forget that the church shouldn't be full of people should claim to be good...we are the ones who admit that we'

I'm inspired by your heart. "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." (Ps. 37:4 I believe) You know your motives need to change; you know you need to love God and not fear hell (I loved the way you put that, by the way); you want and pray for 'a desire to serve him without any ulterior motive'. God is working on you! "Man looks on the outside, but the Lord looks at the heart." God knows where your heart is at, and I believe he is pleased by it. All he asks for is your obedience, and you're on the right track. But I believe the Devil's lying to you because he knows God is working on you. Sure you could donate more money, give more time, help more people, etc., but SO COULD WE ALL! Not even that, but so SHOULD we all. You're one in only a few people who is not content with lazy Christianity. Like I said, God chooses to work through us. He supplies the power, but we must initiate the action to put that power into practice. I think that where the devil is lying to you is in saying that you don't

I hate to consider myself a Christian. When people ask if I am, I always say... "Well, if you mean do I follow Christ, then yes. I am a Christian." But I don't like the feeling behind the term Christian anymore. Its tarnished and gross.
