Just as Dominion Day gave way to Canada Day, for almost a quarter century, Canada Day has become secondary, in the hearts of most Canadians, to the celebration of my birthday.

I was about to mention that you haven't been around for a while - and one has to catch glimpses of you in comments to Jason's entries. Then I noticed that you posted today. Great!

Did you read Chris' re4cent post - you will enjoy it. You made a profound difference at an important time.

I was just about to catch up to his journal; given his propensity for Kieran-length entries, I wanted to wait until I had time to read them and properly comment. But seeing that... wow. I just left a comment now.

Kieran made a profound difference at an important time for me too. Sometime in email I should tell you about the time, back when I lived with my parents, and I didn't even know him all that well yet, he stayed up all night on the phone, talking me out of killing myself, something I had fully decided to do.

Like an hour ago I read a friend's entry from a couple of weeks ago where an El Jay friend of mine (and Kieran's) wrote about calling Kieran when his mom went ballistic about his being gay and was trying to force her way past his roommates.

And I know of several others. That's a pretty cool trail to leave behind.
