Just as Dominion Day gave way to Canada Day, for almost a quarter century, Canada Day has become secondary, in the hearts of most Canadians, to the celebration of my birthday.

Charlie mostly sat back and just listened

Now I have to go fire up my Tivo box and see this. They must've had a Demerol drip in Rose's arm, just out of frame.

Kieran Day. A worthy date to celebrate, indeed.
I was about to mention that you haven't been around for a while - and one has to catch glimpses of you in comments to Jason's entries. Then I noticed that you posted today. Great!

Did you read Chris' re4cent post - you will enjoy it. You made a profound difference at an important time.

I was just about to catch up to his journal; given his propensity for Kieran-length entries, I wanted to wait until I had time to read them and properly comment. But seeing that... wow. I just left a comment now.

Here's another comment (see Eric's, below) to make you smile, Kieran.
You are, indeed, a 'force majeure'.

"Feeling Groovy" is just what Canada is - prairie roads, Laurentian hills, Rocky Mountains, coast to coast to coast!

"I'm half as old as Canada" sounds like something people could say as hyperbole. %)

Canada should at least get its own monarch. Hold an essay contest and pick a family to be the new royal family in perpetuity. And get into it with titles like Duke of Ontario and Viscount of Medicine Hat. %)

I've always tried to be hyperbolic, mathematically speaking, of course.

Our current Governor General (Queen's Representative in Ottawa) is a black woman ... the previous one was an Asian woman (with whom I once had tea in Chile). We like 'differences' in our humans up here.

But, damn ... she didn't appoint me to be Baron of Moose Jaw (in honour of my LJ name, of course) - nor the Marquis of Dildo. Interesting toponymy in Newfoundland.

I would NEVER give up ... just thought you'd decided to leave LJ for a while.
But checked every week to see ...
Welcome back, Runt :-)
