Alright, so I have a new poem I just got finished writing two days ago.
This one started out just about a quote of John Lennon's, and then started contemplating religious issues I have, and... I dunno. Really, I don't. But I like how it turned out.
The Gospel of John Lennon
"The Beatles are more popular than Jesus,"
he said,
and oh! the passion that ignited.
Bonfires burning in effigy
the words out of context,
insistently misunderstood.
In the strictest sense
his claim held true.
The Beatles (With an 'A'),
heard 'round the world,
required no Dogma of their listeners.
No middle-man for them,
they sang directly to the masses.
How does it feel to be one of the beautiful people?
So who's to say that Lennon erred?
I like to think that G-d
smiles upon dissent
born of love, peace, and mind.
He must know of those seven sins,
and well understand the arrogance and pride
of a deity demanding to be worshipped.
For in the end, the Love you take
is equal to the Love you make.
Of course, this got me on a Beatles kick, so I've been listening to the White Album, Magical Mystery Tour, and Rubber Soul for about three days now.
