The Coffee Hunt (Part II): Conquer the World with Good Coffee

Mar 03, 2011 00:23

They say it takes 40 hands to make a really good cup of coffee, or so this little cafe claims. Never knew so much work went into that little cup of satisfaction. Pam and I have been wanting to try 40 Hands for a very long time. Tucked away in the obscure but slowly growing neighbourhood of Tiong Bahru, 40 Hands tempts random passers-by with the smell of aromatic beans.

I love the quirky arty interior with cute cartoons painted on the walls. Unlike The Plain which really is quite minimalistic and rather sophisticated in nature, 40 Hands is fun and playful, perfect for lazing around and chatting with an old friend.

The menu boasts a selection of sandwiches, cakes and pastries, and the unforgettable Tau Sar Pau which deviates from your usual conventional round Pau and amuses with its pancake shape. I think they serve brunch too on weekends! Something that I have to try one day.

The coffee art here is pretty impressive! I got a Swan on my cappuccino. The flavour of the coffee is stronger than most, but nonetheless it's yummy good coffee, enough to make you relax and forget your worries, if only for a bit.

Warning: It is quite a distance from the MRT so be prepared to walk.. for a good 10-15 minutes. Trust me, the walk is worth it.

By the way, if anyone is interested in reading about yummy coffee, here's an article to the Perfect Cup of Coffee It features 5 of the best coffee places in Singapore.
