All knowing Cooking community, I turn to you for help!

I am about to move into an unfurnished rental property that comes without any white goods.  The property is without gas, (and if it were mine I'd install bottled!) We moved into a property with no gas. And I LOVE to cook using gas, so I feel your pain! My ideal combination would be gas hob, electric fan oven.

We've now got a ceramic hob - you need to be careful but it's easier to clean, and I much prefer it to those ring types (we had a cheap one before when we first moved in). It also has a fan oven, and a grill which also acts as a top oven.

I find that the ceramic hob heats up better than a standards hob, and cools down slightly quicker, and I don't know if it's just me, but I think of it as being less dangerous too! Downside is that you need flat bottomed pans. (We already had some good, thick based ones, and they work really well with it)This means that stir frying can be a pain unless you can find a decent wok.

Overall, it may throw you off your game at first. But don't worry too much. Just get used to the feel of it - as people have already said, you need to be more aware of the heat, there's not such an instant effect - and you'll be back to cooking wonderful dishes. I've also found that since getting a fan oven, my baking's improved no end!
