Yesterday I made a pantry staple- whole chicken, 'roasted' in the crock pot with potatoes, carrots, onion and celery 'til it's done. This time I'd wanted to do something a bit differently so I stuffed the cavity with a quarter of an onion and half of a whole orange (in large pieces) and squeezed another orange's juice out to use as the liquid.
It came out moist and tender, don't get me wrong, but I was disappointed by how much orange flavor there wasn't. Is there a better way to go about getting those flavors next time?
